Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT), known as the Linear Strip Method, was the preferred technique for hair transplant. Manual Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) was a tedious and time consuming process before the innovation of NeoGraft. Traditionally, the FUE technique used incisions and forceps to remove individual follicles from the donor section of scalp where hair is thickest. Once removed, these follicles were prepared and transplanted to thinning locations.
Although removing follicles individually was a more precise method of extraction, the extended time and tediousness of the surgery made the Linear Strip Method the preferable hair transplant technique. During the Linear Strip Method, an entire strip of scalp is removed from the donor section. The follicles are prepared under a microscope and then transplanted to the desired locations. The strip of scalp removed during extraction is closed using stitches, which produces a linear scar.
The innovative technique of NeoGraft automated the manual FUE method. This advancement in follicle transplantation allows you to enjoy the benefits of the manual FUE method during a significantly shorter procedure and without sutures and stitches! Instead of using incisions and forceps, NeoGraft harnesses the power of pneumatic pressure (suction) to extract and implant hair follicles. This technique allows follicles to be removed more quickly, more safely, and with an increased follicle survival rate compared to traditional hair transplant techniques. NeoGraft also preserves the follicle in a moist environment during preparation, further increasing their rate of survival.
